Japan's auto market fell 11.6% year-on-year in the first half of the year

According to data released by the Japan Automobile Industry Association recently, in the first half of 2013, the total sales volume of autos (including passenger cars and commercial vehicles) in the Japanese auto market was 1.641 million, which was a year-on-year decrease of approximately 11.6%.

In June, the number of registered/uploaded passenger cars in Japan was 116,371 units, compared with 131,502 units in June of last year, which was a year-on-year decline of 11.5%. In the first half of the year, the number of ordinary passenger vehicles sold was 702,776 units, a year-on-year decline of 10.1% compared to 781,811 units in the same period of last year. .

The mini-vehicle with a displacement of 660 cc or less sold 116,805 units in June, compared with 151,302 units in June of last year, a year-on-year drop of 22.8%. In the first half of the year, sales of mini-cars were 747,862, compared with 883,472 units in the same period last year, a year-on-year decrease of 15.3%.

Japan's June shipment of goods vehicles (including general trucks and minivans) was 32,963 units. It was 33,341 units in June last year, a year-on-year decrease of 1.1%. Sales volume for the first half of the year was 184,479 units, which was 184,586 units in the same period of last year, which was a year-on-year decline of 0.1%.

In passenger cars plus trucks and buses, Japan’s total vehicle sales in June were 266,913 units. In June last year, sales volume was 317,152 units, down 15.8% year-on-year; cumulative sales in the first half of the year were 1,641,032 units, down from the same period last year, which was 1,856,934 units. 11.6%. In the first half of the year, Toyota sold 762,576 vehicles in the Japanese market, compared with 871,483 vehicles in the same period of last year, down 12.5% ​​year-on-year.

In summary, since the beginning of this year, only low-speed year-on-year growth has been achieved in April, and all other months have fallen year-on-year. This also caused the two consecutive months of decline since May, resulting in a double-digit decline in the cumulative sales in the first half of the year.
