In order to solve the impact of haze weather on the locomotive, Dalian Engine and Transportation Company dispatched design engineers to track haze in the areas around Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei, and developed an “auto-changing function”. When encountering haze and other inclement weather, the driver did not lower the locomotive. The pantograph can complete the "end change" operation. After the pantograph is lowered, the contact with the haze can be easily conducted. When the "automatic changeover function" is added, the pantograph does not need to be lowered to effectively enhance the locomotive defense. The ability of bad weather," said CNR personnel.

An engineer said, “When the haze was not serious in previous years, after an electric locomotive had run to its destination, the staff could clean the dust by sweeping the roof with a sweeping wind band; but in recent years, the increasing haze has given rise to a lot of dust. Dust and other dirt are attached to the roof of the vehicle, affecting the on-off function of the locomotive. When the fog is severe, the electric locomotive needs to use cleaning agents to clean the high-pressure parts of the top cover of the locomotive every time it runs for 30 to 40 kilometers.

In order to effectively improve the anti-fog and anti-fog capabilities of locomotives, Dalian Engine and Vehicles Corporation has added an “automatic changeover function” to the development and manufacture of these locomotives.
