GE Healthcare introduced the Encompass solution to help hospitals manage mobile asset inventories, reduce management costs and achieve better capital allocation. The program helps healthcare providers find critical mobile assets in real time, reducing the time to search for equipment and spend more time on patient care. For more than 15 years, RTLS has helped hospitals improve the management of critical mobile clinical assets and save millions of dollars in capital and maintenance costs. The difficulty of deploying traditional RTLS solutions limits their popularity. Encompass helps hospitals achieve better patient care, operational efficiency and financial performance. The system leverages the hospital's existing Wi-Fi network and BLE wireless technology. The system can be installed in a few days and can be deployed without having to open the ceiling or bury the cable in the wall. The company reported that the initial investment and installation costs for the system are 60% lower than those for cable RTLS solutions and do not require separate, dedicated field applications and database servers for maintenance. The application can be provided as a subscription. The system can be retrofitted and expanded quickly, and can be configured quickly if the hospital layout is redesigned or reused. As a cloud-based application, the system can be connected by the Internet by any authorized worker. Chris Sullivan, Global Head of Healthcare Practices at Zebra Technologies, said in a prepared statement: "Zebra is pleased to be working with GE Healthcare to bring transformational value to this innovative, practical and easy-to-implement solution, With visible corporate assets, clinicians can spend their time on patient care, which is a good thing for all to provide a quality, low-cost patient-quality environment.
