Trial production of wind turbines in Myanmar was successful
According to Wusuo, the deputy director of the Ministry of Finance and Welfare of Myanmar, the Myanmar Ministry of Foreign Affairs began researching and piloting the production of small wind turbines a year ago and has succeeded in producing 90 small wind turbines of 300 to 750 watts. It has been sold to the remote areas of Myanmar, and is now preparing to expand the production of 700 watts to 1000 watts of wind turbines to meet the demand for electricity in remote minority areas. Myanmar signed an agreement on “Reducing the use of fuel oil and increasing the use of renewable energy†at the ASEAN Summit in Cebu, Philippines, in January 2007. Renewable energy sources include solar, wind, hydro and bioenergy.
