SKF Ventilation Blower Solutions Save 40% Energy

Gothenburg, April 7th: SKF announces the official launch of an energy-efficient, high-speed permanent magnet motor solution for ventilation blowers in wastewater treatment facilities that can reduce energy consumption by up to 40%. In a wastewater treatment facility, the aeration blower system accounts for 80% of the total energy consumption of the facility, so the SKF solution has significant potential for energy savings. When used in a 350 kW wind turbine, it can save up to 500000 kWh per year, which is equivalent to a reduction of 375 tons of CO2 emissions. The SKF Ventilation Blower System solution is part of the SKF BeyondZero* portfolio.

The SKF Ventilation Blower System includes high speed permanent magnet motors (PMM) with output power from 75 kW to 350 kW, active magnetic bearings (AMB) and integrated AMB control systems. This oil-free motor solution has several enhancements: for example, unlike conventional induction motors, PMM is able to maintain efficiency at half and half speeds. The SKF Ventilation Blower System solution uses fewer mechanical components than conventional drive systems, which means fewer maintenance times, while robust built-in monitoring and diagnostics maintain high performance and reliability. .
