MHI wins the world's largest offshore wind turbine order
On December 24th, Japan's Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) said that MHI Vestas Offshore Wind has received orders for 32 ultra-large offshore wind turbines "V164-8.0MW" from Danish energy company DONG Energy.
        The offshore wind turbines have the world's largest power (8 MW each) and will work for the Burbo Bank offshore wind power expansion project along the Liverpool in the UK. The associated generator's Blade will be produced at the company's Wight Island facility in the UK, and the Turbine pre-installation will be carried out in Belfast, Northern Ireland. The offshore wind turbine commissioning will be completed in 2017.
        In April of this year, MHI and Denmark's Vestas Wind Systems A/S jointly established a joint venture company, MHI Vestas Offshore Wind, to cooperate with Vestas to improve the capabilities of offshore wind power, and will actively adopt wind power plants including offshore. MHI's core technology, including Digital Displacement Transmission (DDT) technology required for development, design, and manufacturing.
