Is it safe for pregnant women to eat peanuts?

A new large study found that as long as pregnant women themselves are not allergic to nuts, they do not need to worry that eating nuts may cause children's allergies.
The researchers found that, in fact, children who had eaten nuts more than five times a month during pregnancy had significantly lower risk of allergies to nuts than those who refused to eat nuts during pregnancy.
"There are some inherent observations that previous concerns or concerns that eating nuts during pregnancy and subsequent peanut or nut allergies are truly groundless," said Dr. Michael Young. Young is a senior author of this study, an attending physician in the field of allergy and immunology at Boston Children's Hospital.
He warned: "However, pregnant women should not start eating peanuts and nuts to prevent children from allergic to nuts. Although our study shows that pregnant women who eat peanuts and nuts can reduce the risk of children's allergies to nuts, I really want to emphasize that Our study just shows some of these connections."
He expressed the hope that pregnant women should not be too blind.
