He realized that one of the most pressing problems facing peasants was the lack of devices to preserve agricultural products. This led farmers to be forced to sell cheaply and labor for several months. Some farmers even let their agricultural products rot. After all, in India's rural areas, it is very difficult to satisfy one of the electricity sources, not to mention the power refrigerating equipment or the refrigeration system. The peasants had to be exploited by middle-ranking businessmen. It was heartbreaking that the loss of agricultural products was serious.

In response to this situation, S4S has developed a solar dryer whose food drying technology helps to extend the product's shelf life. Perishable goods can be stored for one year without adding any preservatives. In addition to vegetables, fruits and spices, dryers can also be used to preserve meat and seafood.
Loss or waste of 1.3 billion tons of food annually
It is estimated that one-third of the food (about 1.3 billion tons) produced each year is discarded or wasted. This equates to a waste of about 990 billion U.S. dollars a year. At the same time, 795 million people (one out of nine) do not have enough food to maintain a healthy life.
“India produces about 74 million tons of fruit and 143 million tons of vegetables each year. However, 20-30% of the products are lost during post-harvest processing.†Vaibhav added, “Indian countryside badly needs post-harvest storage technology to avoid fruits and vegetables. Corruption extends the shelf life of products. Unfortunately, common storage technologies rely on electricity, but India cannot guarantee stable electricity supply. In rural India, blackouts are very common."
Vaibhav claims that his company's dryers are half as cheap as power-chillers, and they are 25% more efficient. Because it consumes less energy than conventional dryers and refrigerators, carbon emissions are low. In addition, the machine does not even require maintenance.
Solar dryers sell for less than $90. Except in India, dryers are welcomed by people from France, Jamaica, Nepal, Vietnam, Sri Lanka, Kenya and Bangladesh.
In addition to solar dryers, S4S also offers a solar food dryer. The device called Christened FooDer can be used to make fruit candy, dried vegetables and dried fish. The company said that FooDer uses an innovative, natural way to make healthy foods that can retain 80% of the essential nutrients and vitamins.
The price of this machine is also less than 90 US dollars, so far, S4S has sold 250 units.
As a food storage technology supplier, S4S also provides its own food brand, which brings consumers dehydrated packaging products. “Packed foods in the market often use preservatives that harm human health,†said Vaibhav.
“Our unique technology ensures that the product is delicious and nutrition is not lost, and the product has a shelf life of up to 6 months without adding any preservatives.â€
Although India is touted as the next China, it is necessary to work hard for many years in order to power up the village.
