From January to August 2010, the import volume of Japanese machine tools increased by 40.56% year-on-year

According to the statistics of the Japan Machine Tool Importers Association (JMTIA), from January to August 2010, Japan had cumulatively imported 76,562 machine tools, and the import value was 98,319 million yen. Imports increased by 40.56% from 69,946 million yen for the same period of 2009. Among them, imported metal cutting machine tools 69,196 units, import value was 19.179 billion yen, import volume fell 5.73% year-on-year; imported metal forming machine tools 4,769 units, import volume 5.43 billion yen, import volume decreased by 38.15%; imported semiconductor manufacturing equipment 2597 Taiwan, worth 73.71 billion yen, imports increased by 80.57% year-on-year.

In August of that month, Japan imported 11 541 machine tools, worth 14.455 billion yen, and the import value increased by 13.42% from 12.745 billion yen in the previous month, and also increased by 56.95% from the same period of last year. Among them, in August imported 10,697 sets of metal-cutting machine tools, worth 2.371 billion yen, imports fell 5.31% from the previous month's 2.504 billion yen, but an increase of 15.7% over the same period last year; imported metal forming machine tools 375, the value of 7.07 Billion yen, import value increased by 75% from the previous month's 404 million yen, but decreased by 69.35% over the same period of last year; imports 471 sets of semiconductor manufacturing equipment, worth 113.77 billion yen, and the import amount was 98.38 billion days from the previous month. The yuan increased by 15.64%, a substantial increase of 134.39% over the same period of last year.

In June, the import value of semiconductor manufacturing equipment increased substantially, making the total import value of Japanese machine tools from negative to positive. From July to August, the import of machine tools continued the year-on-year growth trend, while the import of metal cutting machine tools increased year-on-year, but the import value of metal forming machine tools was still lower than the level of 2009.
